So it's Sunday night and I'm trying to get pumped up for the coming week, but all I can think about is that each week makes me feel so tired. Also the fact that we will find out the fate of our aftercare tomorrow is a little disconcerting and puts me on edge. We have been working for weeks to get the licensing and everything in order and tomorrow is D-Day, so to speak. Please keep in your prayers my friend who is running the aftercare program right now as she has taken a GREAT leap of faith and may not have a job after tomorrow.
On another note I watched the movie "Amazing Grace." What does this have in common with the aftercare program? Good question! In the movie a man finds out that the slave trade it Britain is so bad that he feels HE needs to put a stop to it. He dedicates his life and his health to the cause and again and again tries to get a bill passed in Parliament. He finally achieves his goal after many years and his joy at seeing his task complete overwhelmed all the agony and work he had to go through in order to achieve his goal. In a small way I feel that aftercare having to wait for the decision for a few weeks has been our time of waiting on the Lord to see what HIS plan is. We may still have more work to do. Or He may grant that the faith based aftercare can continue.
Prayers please

Quotable Quote-For the School Year
"Education is not the filling of a pail but the lighting of a fire." --William Butler Yeats
When I look at this quote I think "That is what I want teaching to be!" There is something to be said however, for the quiet "bucket filling" of young minds. I think you have to have both. Students need the day to day facts and information in order to succeed in life. Where would we be without reading and writing? No where! But if I can integrate reading and writing basics into something more fun and creative then I will have achieved the "lighting of a fire" affect.
Case in point-
Having been at my new job for about a month and a half I can tell that there are certain students that really could use daily love and attention. If I show them that I care by giving hugs and words of encouragement then I have placed my "drops in the bucket" and they will hopefully begin to change over time. I can also help students get excited about big projects that the teachers that I'm working with assign and help the teachers to "light that fire."
There is one particular student who I care about very much and he needs help with social skills. I can tell he is trying to please, but each day is a struggle to focus and work well with others. I have tried to get him to focus on good behavior, but what I really need to do is get him to focus on how much I care and want him to succeed, that happened yesterday and he showed me that love for a child can do wonderful things-even remove social barriers!

Trying Something New!
My friends have been telling me I have a story to share with the world, so I thought I’d try this out. It’s strange but exciting too :) I like trying new things, foods, experiences, here’s hoping that this one will be a positive one.
I’m listening to*PANDORA* right now and a group that came up on the shuffle was a group called “Something Corporate,” interesting beat and different happy feel. Music is a big part of my life-I sing in choirs, band, and by myself dancing around the kitchen. Music is something that I’ve never had to live without and I LOVE being able to try different genres and groups…any suggestions welcome-though I don’t like heavy metal screamers-upbeat sound is a must.
Random thought, though somewhat related- I love it when the lyrics are clever and unexpected. I think it takes great finesse to be a lyricist and a quirky side too, so that your songs don’t sound all the same.
Well that’s all I have for now :)
Comments welcome!
